<<press release >> Grace Design to Introduce A/D Option for the m201 at AES Boulder, Colorado (October 1, 2007) – Grace Design announced today that it will debut its highly anticipated 2-channel, high performance A/D converter option for the m201 preamp system at the upcoming New York AES show. Designed to be seamlessly integrated into an m201 preamp, the new 24-bit/192kHz capable A/D converter represents a new level of sonic performance and reliability for audio professionals in music production, audio post, broadcast and live performance applications. Physically, the A/D option consists of a hardware module that’s installed internally in an m201 chassis and whose connectors are brought out to a rear panel slot. Additionally, the operating controls and metering for the A/D are supplied on a front panel assembly. m201 preamps can be ordered from the factory with the A/D option installed or can be upgraded on existing units. The low latency A/D converter operates at sample rates from 44.1 to 192 kHz at a bit depth of 24-bits. Four output connectors are available at the rear panel of the m201 and include (2) AES3 outputs on female XLR’s, an AES3-id/S/PDIF output on BNC and a TOSLINK optical output. All outputs are active simultaneously. Professional and consumer formats are supported as are single and dual wire AES3. In addition, two +4dBu line level inputs are provided as XLR male connectors. The A/D can be sourced from both of the m201’s mic preamp channels, the MS matrix L-R outputs and the line inputs. The latter allows the user to utilize the A/D as a high-definition, standalone A/D converter solution. External sync is available via BNC’s for Word Clock and Digidesign® LoopSync. The converter employs Grace Design’s unique s-Lock™ dual stage PLL for super stable, ultra low jitter audio performance. The elegant and simple to use front panel includes dual 20 segment LED peak reading meters that display true digital peak values over a 60dB range. Two input sensitivities are user selectable from the panel and each can be calibrated individually. Operating parameters are selected via switches above and below the meters and all settings are shown to the user through LED displays. VP of Sales and Marketing, Doug Wood, noted, “The m201 has quickly established itself as one of the premier two channel mic preamps in the industry. Now, with the introduction of our new high performance A/D option, users will have access to what may well be the finest integrated two channel mic amp/converter system available in the market today. As the converter can also operate as a standalone unit, users will get two products for the price of one. We’re very excited about this new m201 option and think that our customers will be too.” The m201 A/D option carries an introductory SRP of $995 (US) and is available through Grace Design’s channel of authorized US dealers and international distributors. Production versions are expected to ship by mid November. The company will be located at booth #739 at this year’s AES show.
